Interview: Leilani Euphrosyne

Luca Curci talks with Leilani Euphrosyne during Venice International Art Fair 2020 at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello.

Leilani Euphrosyne was born in the beautiful town of Schramberg, in the middle of the Black Forest. Her parents owned a stylish boutique with fine porcelain, ceramic and glass articles. Therefore, already from her childhood, she has been surrounded by ”beautiful things and pieces of decorative art and craft”. She is the mother of two children, and for many years she lived near Frankfurt/Main. Leilani Euphrosyne has travelled the world as a flight attendant for Lufthansa for 35 wonderful years. She has always been fascinated by foreign people, their cultures and, above all, by the world’s most diverse artistic genres. However, her special interest has always been painting. As a flight attendant, Leilani has been very close to the sky, and now she paints to experience the sky down on earth. ”When I paint, I feel free as a bird and blissful as a child!”. She is a real globetrotter, who discovers herself while painting. She has attended different courses: Frankfurt Art Academy, a painting school in Frankfurt, watercolour classes, Creative camp in Königstein, a workshop in Bad Homburg, the Art Academy ”EigenArt” in Bad Heilbrunn, painting tours with ”artistravel”, a painting class in Murnau/Staffelsee, and several other painting classes near Munich. Pretty soon, her own and unique style and her actual motivation for painting crystallized. Her art is inspired by various styles from around the world and her favourite colour palettes depict Hawaii, the Seychelles and Zanzibar. She draws and creates from within. She also exclusively employs Aura Soma essences, which are selectively and skillfully mixed into the partly crystalline colours to intensify the deeply positive and inspiring effect of her art. All of her works exude lightness and cheerfulness and radiate femininity and pure joie de vivre. Her paintings feel like a sparkling and refreshing sip of champagne, but above all, they delicately affect and inspire on the subtle and spiritual level. They are very unique and authentic, ”magical and powerful paintings that inspire the soul”. Leilani’s Mantra is ”Go through the world with love, light and floral scent in your heart! Enjoy the lightness and dance frequently and wildly because joy and ecstasy are the secrets of the universe”.

Luca Curci – What is art for you?
Leilani Euphrosyne – My art is born deep within me. My creations have their origin in my soul and are made to contribute to the re-enchantment of the world. I want to nourish spectators’ souls with my art and therefore call my pictures ”magical and powerful pictures that inspire the soul”. Nourishing the female soul is my main topic. Women need to regain the space for leisure, lightness, playfulness, detachment and creativity. We are entitled to this sacred space! Ever since I have regained access to my sources of power and my inner female home, creativity just spurts out of me. My paintings radiate lightness and joy, gratuitous and endless bliss, freedom, dance, love, femininity, closeness, laughter and creativity.

LC – What are you currently working on?
LE – Currently, I am working on ”Flowers of Peace”. I dream of leading a very special workshop in which the participants create a large painting of peace. In alphabetical order, I would invite Angela, Donald, Emanuel, Kim, Recep, Vladimir… I would visit them all in turn with a large suitcase full of bright colours and a huge canvas. With my enthusiasm and my ”Aloha Spirit” I would quickly enchant and motivate everyone to participate! Life is magic! Under my guidance, each one of them would happily participate and trust in their own creativity and inspiration. At the very first stroke of the brush, they would feel any scepticism evaporate and the brushes dance or even fly over the canvas. The resulting artwork, very colourful, courageous and sparkling with joie de vivre, will be given the title ”Flowers of Peace”. It will be a symbol for the belief in everything good in all mankind – connecting cultures, nations and religions.

LC – Which is the role the artist plays in society? And contemporary art?
LE – I love to bring people in higher emotions like inspiration, enthusiasm, abundance, fascination, inner bliss and divinity. I love to show them to trust into their inner mystic, their inner healer and the unknown. I enjoy when my paintings bring a smile onto their faces. ”Stay in Love and Light” is the name of one of my newer paintings. Something very important in our crazy times. Laughing is one of the best things for our immune system. I’m sure this is my sole mission: creating ”magical paintings of power that inspire the soul”. I love inspiring people to focus more on their energy than on their material being. Isn’t it true, that the most worthy we have are our emotions and vibrations?

LC – What is your creative process like?
LE – I thank heaven that I have finally arrived in my own creative flow. Writing and painting is an expression of the creative being! For many years I had to function perfectly in the outside world. I used a lot of energy to somehow keep family and work and everything around in balance. There was little time for creative moments and a look inside. Too little for real leisure or even a creative flow. Definitely, too little to really meditate in the deep spaces of the body and soul. I missed that very much at the time. And now I know and feel deep within my heart that only here can there be real nourishment and only here can true bliss arise. First of all, now I always aim for my inner bliss and keep it firmly in focus. Imagination is a wonderful catalyst for this. With the help of divine grace, I now consciously and completely enjoy where I am in this moment. My calm breath shapes my consciousness! More being than doing. I have reached myself! I smell the scent of the flowers and feel the warmth of the sun and absorb it completely. The imagination of bliss and the conscious focus on it was the beginning of my change! As if I had finally remembered the meaning of my name Beate: the blissful, the blessed. From this point, I came into my radiance and began to pass on my own zest for life with enthusiasm: through my being and through my paintings. Painting became my passion! I feel deep happiness when people see and feel my paintings with their hearts, open themselves inwardly and enjoy them! My power images also inspire your soul!

LC – Did your style change over the years? In which way?
LE – I’ve been exclusively employing Aura Soma Essences which are selectively and skillfully mixed into the partly crystalline colours for some time to intensify the deeply positive and inspiring effect of my art. All of my works exude lightness and cheerfulness and radiate femininity and pure joie de vivre.

LC – What do you think about the concept of this festival? In which way did it inspire you?
LE – Your concept did inspire me very much because it took place in the city of love, art, culture and the art of living. On top, this is the city where we all are remembered to the aspect of impermanence, and therefore we get focused on the ”here and now”. Just perfect!
